Description

Heavy rains that showered northern part of Vietnam from 2 to 3 August 2017 has resulted in flash flood and landslide. In Lai Chau, Son La, and Yen Bai provinces, the total 24 hours rainfalls were recorded between 83 to 172 mm and causing the Da River (Black River) and its smaller streams overflowed. Flash flood was occurred in Mua Chang Chai district in Yen Bai Province and Muong La district in Son La Province. Landslides were reported in these areas as well as in Nam-Ho Die Bien district in Lai Chau Province. The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (CCNDPC) reported that at least 12 people have been killed.
