Philippines, Floods and Landslides in Regions II, VI, IX, XII, and BARMM (TC KIYAPO and Enhanced Southwest Monsoon)

On 22 July 2026, 8:00 PM, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) 07d within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has

developed into Tropical Depression (TD) KIYAPO.

On 23 July 2026, TD KIYAPO maintained its strength while moviing northwestward over the Philippine Sea east of

Central Luzon. It was forecasted to gradually intensify into Tropical Storm (TS) category and may continue to strengthen

while traversing the Extreme Northern Luzon and may intensify into a Severe Tropical Storm after passing the Babuyan

Islands. A weakening trend is expected once KIYAPO makes landfall in the vicinity of southern mainland China and

moves further inland.

On 24 July 2026, KIYAPO intensified into TS as it moves closer towards Extreme Northern Luzon. Tropical Cyclone Wind

Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is raised over Batanes, the northern portion of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Santa

Teresita, Buguey, Camalaniugan, Aparri, Ballesteros, Abulug, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Claveria, Santa Praxedes)

including Babuyan Islands, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud). While TCWS No. 1 is in effect over the

rest of mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet,

the rest of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and the northern and central portions of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran,

Dinalungan, Dipaculao). The Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of KIYAPO will bring strong to gale-force wind gusts,

especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds, over most of the country. A Gale Warning is in effect over the

northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.
