Description

Issued on 22 July 2026 at 4:00 PM, cloudy skies with scattered rains and

thunderstorms may have possible flash flood or landslides due to moderate to heavy

rains due to Southwest Monsoon (SWM) in Mindanao, Western Visayas, NIR,

Central Visayas and Palawan.

On the same day, sustained moderate to heavy rainfall brought by the Southwest

Monsoon caused rivers and waterways to overflow, resulting in flooding and flash

floods, while also triggering landslides in already rain-saturated areas across the

municipalities of Kiamba, Maasim, Maitum, and Malapatan in Sarangani Province.

These incidents prompted preemptive evacuations of families and individuals in the

affected areas.

On 23 July 2026 at around 4:00 PM, the Southwest Monsoon brought heavy rainfall

and strong winds which caused flooding in Zamboanga City.

In response, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through

its Field Office (FO) IX and XII, in close coordination with the Local Government

Units (LGUs), to monitor the situation and ensure the provision of necessary

assistance to affected families and individuals.

Meanwhile, DSWD FO IX has already provided relief assistance to address the

immediate needs of the affected population.
