Based on DDPM report published on National News Bureau of Thailand on June 14 2012: the central and lower northern regions, Mr Wiboon said over 6,000 residents in Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Prachin Buri and Chai Nat provinces have been hit by flash floods and forest-runoffs. Previously Mr Wiboon Sanguanpong, DDPM Director-General, also said that the flood situation is widespread in the southern region, affecting over 130,000 residents. Flash floods have struck Ranong, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Krabi, Phang Nga and Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces, with villages along the Tapi River still severely flooded. The floods have damaged a number of houses, crops, public roads and bridges. However, improvements have been reported in some parts of Ranong, Chumphon and Phang Nga, with rehabilitation works underway. Overflow from two canals _ the Klong Klam and Khlong Ket _ in Bang Rakam district, which are linked to the river, has flooded about 2,000 rai of land.

Description

On 11 April 2012, earthquake has occur in Southwest of Meulaboh, Aceh Indonesia with 8.5 M with depth of 10 Km at 2.33 oN and 93.04 oS based on Indonesian Meteorological Agency (BMKG) or 8.9 M with depth of 33 Km (USGS). A tsunami watch was issued for countries ranging from Indonesia to Thailand, India, Australia, the Seychelles, Somalia, Oman and SouthAfrica, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said (The Nation). The Thailand Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued an urgent warning for people living on the coast of six southern provinces to evacuate, the areas would be hit by tsunami starting from 5:09 pm. Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a tsunami warning as well and urged people living in the coastal area of Kedah, Perlis, Pulau Pinang, and Perak. This Earthquake potential for causing Tsunami, based on the analysis shown on the figure 1 it is expected that if tsunami happen the tsunami wave will made landfall of Aceh coast in 1 (one) hour. The closest area impacted is the island of Simeulue that also impacted during past 2004 Tsunami in Aceh. The distance from the center to the West coast of Aceh as shown above is about 500 Km. The shake was felt in Banda Aceh, Padang, Bengkulu, and Lampung. The shake was also felt in Maldives, Malaysia, and Thailand. Based on the Indonesian Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) there are 8 after-shakes following this earthquake starting initially with 8.5 SR at 15:28 about 510 Km SW of Simeuleu with depth of 10Km, followed by 8.3 SR (15:38), 6.5 SR (16:28), 6.1 SR (16:48), 6.1 SR (17:09 PM), 5.7 SR (17:21), 8.8 SR (17:43PM) around 483 KM Southwest of Simeulue at 10 Km depth, 8.1 SR (17:43PM), and 6.1 SR (18:04). BNPB has confirmed that tsunami has occur in Sabang at 17:04 with the height of 0.6 meter and in Meulaboh for 0.8 meter. This earthquake also causes power outage for about 3.5 hours in Banda Aceh. So far there has been no report of life casualties resulting from this earthquake, damage assessment on surrounding areas like Simeulue and Meulaboh still conducted by local authorities. Based on the ioc-sealevelmonitoring.org the recorded rise in sea level is up to 1 meter at Meulaboh station as shown on the figure 2. Based on NOAA, through sea level station in Phuket, until 19:00 the sea level has been showing normal fluctuation showing by green receding pattern shown on the figure 3. Description

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta’s rush hour was made worse on Tuesday with many parts of the city inundated from overflowing rivers, including middle- and upper-class residential areas. Torrential rain in upstream areas and downtown Jakarta since the morning led to overflowing rivers in four municipalities, sending water flooding into a number of major traffic access points and suburban areas. The Jakarta Police’s Traffic Management Center (TMC) reported that at least 10 areas in Jakarta were under water between 10 centimeters and 1 meter deep. Of the seven inundated areas in South Jakarta, Lebak Bulus and Pesanggrahan suffered the most severe inundation, with water in Lebak Bulus reaching a depth of 1 meter. The other five areas were Pondok Labu, Tanah Kusir, Bungur, Cipulir Market and Kemang. Tangerang Disaster Mitigation (Tagana) teams evacuated hundreds of residents from their homes in the Ciledug Indah housing complex in Ciledug district after floodwaters inundated the area on Wednesday. Water of up to 50-centimeters-deep began to inundate the housing complex on Tuesday. By Wednesday morning, the water reached up to two meters in some parts of the complex. Based on Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency: Several rivers that runs through Jakarta are overflowing to the surrounding areas. These rivers include: Kali Pesanggrahan, Kali Angke, Kali Krukut, and Kali Ciliwung with inundation up to 1.5 meter. Flooded area in East Jakarta include the following sub districts: Pasar Rebo (Kel. Kali Sari, Kel. Cijantung), and Jatinegara (Kel. Kampung Melayu). Flooded area in South Jakarta to include the following sub districts: Pesanggrahan (Kel. Cipedak dan Kel. Ulujami), and Kebayoran Baru (Kel.Petogogan). No life casualties resulting from this flood, hundreds of house are flooded. and about 850 people are evacuated with 1068 households are affected.

Description

Torrential rain coupled with strong winds struck Jakarta on Wednesday 25 January 2012 around 10 AM and uprooted several trees across the city. One of the trees on Jl. Dharmawangsa Raya in South Jakarta fell onto three vehicles, reportedly leaving one bajaj driver dead. Jakarta Traffic Management Center confirmed the fatal incident, but did not detail the damaged vehicles. The center also reported that the wind toppled trees on Jl. Antasari next to Paradis Apartment, in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, on Jl. Sudirman in front of the Atmajaya Catholic University, on Jl. Kalibata, South Jakarta and in Permata Hijau in South Jakarta adjacent to Bina Nusantara campus.
