Description

BNPD also reports that around 2,000 people were affected by flooding in the villages of Tanjung, Sungai Daeng and Belo Laut, West Bangka Regency on 28 January. The flooding was caused by a combination of heavy rain and high tides in the Bangka Sea. Flood water was as deep as 2 metres in places, flooding hundreds of houses and causing damage to 3 bridges. No casualties or injuries were reported.

Description

The high rainfall intensity which brought heavy downpour and thunderstorm have caused widespread flooding and flash flood in northern and southern Thailand. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported that the situation has improved in 14 of 15 flood affected provinces. Three provinces are reportedly still recovering from the flood i.e. Sukhothai, Loei and Phichit. The DDPM added that the flood in Sukhothai had caused 5 deaths (of total five) and affected 17,000 families. The flood also damaged 20 houses and 2,800 ha of farmland. In Loei, 2,300 people were affected by flood. Further, the flood also damaged 20 houses and 480 ha of farmland in Phichit. In their effort to respond and recover the situation, the local authority has mobilised hundreds of personnel and other resources, such as boats, ambulances, etc to help the victims. Aid and relief items are continuously distributed to the flood affected people. As of 28 May 2017, a total of five people people were reported to have died because of the flood. The DDPM also estimated that the floods has affected 39,654 people / 17,119 households, and damaged 17,655 rai (2,825 ha) of farmland. As of 12 June, DDPM reported the flood has caused 5 deaths and affected 35,000 houses 30 provinces where 82 districts of 19 provinces declared the state of calamity due to flood.

Continuous rain has triggered flooding in West Kotawaringin and East Kotawaringin Districts, Central Kalimantan. In East Kotawaringin, flood submerged Arut Utara subdistrict, where 730 houses were affected. It was estimated that 2,000 people needed help. Flood also submerged four subdistricts in West Kotawaringin. Based on the Disaster Management Authority (BPBD) of West Kotawaringin report, 420 families were affected in Telaga Antang subdistrict. The BPBD are still conducting damage assessment and providing assistance to the flood affected people.

Description

After battered by rain for several days, flood inundated villages in Nunukan and Bulungan Districts, North Kalimantan Province. In Nunukan, due to the overflow of the Sebakung river, 30 villages were flooded. After assessing the damages, the Rapid Response Team reported that the flood had caused 1 death and affected 1,487 families. Further, 5,037 houses and several government buildings were reportedly submerged. Meanwhile in Bulungan, five subdistricts were inundated. The local authority evacuated and served 296 evacuees. As of today, the local authority is still providing assistance to the victims.

Flood has inundated six villages in Sei Lepan and Babalan subdistrict, Langkat District, North Sumatra Province. The flood was caused by the overflow of Sei Lepan and Sei Pelawi rivers. The Disaster Management Authority of Langkat (BPBD) reported that 526 families were affected with 29 families being evacuated to the evacuation contres. The flood has also damaged 128 ha of agriculture areas. Responses have been conducted by the local authority by assessing the losses, evacuating the victims and distributing relief items.

Five subdistricts in Padang City, West Sumatra Province were flooded. The news agencies estimated at least 3,000 people were affected by the flood. Description

Earthquake with 6.6 magnitude with 10 km shook Poso, Central Sulawesi on 29 May 2017 at 21:35 (UTC +7). The earthquake did not generate any tsunami. Nevertheless, the shock was felt strongly in the cities near the epicentre. The BMKG also recorded at least 200 aftershocks with magnitude 5.0 and lower. The National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) reported that the earthquake has injured 25 people and damaged 348 houses and buildings in Poso district. 328 families were evacuated and stayed inside evacuation centre. The local authority reported that seven subdistricts have been affected with Lore Utara as the most damaged, with the remaining : Poso Pesisir, Poso Pesisir Utara, Lore Peore, Poso Kota, Poso Kota Utara and Lage. As of now, damage and losses assessment is still being conducted so as foods and relief goods distribution. The local authority still continuous provide assistance to the victims. The national and provincial disaster management authority also provide supports to Poso‘ authority. Seven days of emergency response period has been declared by the Poso‘ authority.

The Cyclone Maarutha which passed over the southwestern area of Myanmar has brought heavy rainfall and strong wind to the area. The heavy rainfall and thundershower were experienced in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Magway and Taninthayi regions, so as Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States. Based on media, the strong wind has caused damages to 70 houses, two medical facilities, schools and monasteries in eight villages in Yanbye Townships. Damages were also reported in Manaung Township and Kyaukpyu. The local authority, including military and police, have cleaned the debris and fallen trees. They also provided assistance to the affected families.

The Tropical Depression 02W, or locally named as "Crising" which brought heavy rain has caused flashflood in Cebu. Nine people were reportedly to have died in Carmen and Danao City, Cebu. Ten people were also injured because of the incident. The Provincial Disaster Risk and Management office also reported the damages of 73 houses and lifelines disruption. The affected barangays in Carmen included Barangays Dawis Norte, Dawis Sur, Ipil, Puente , Cogon west and Cantumog. The local authority provided assistance to the 200 flood affected families by distributing tents and moving them to the evacuation centres. Food and relief supplies were also distributed.

Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (CCNDPC) and Viet Nam Disaster Management Authority (VDMA) reported flooding in four provinces of Binh Duong, Ca Mau, Vinh Long, Ben Tre and Bac Lieu on 8 December 2017. The flooding have affected 1,138 families in those provinces. It also inundated hundreds of houses, i.e. 200 houses in Binh Duong, 50 houses in Ben Tre and 319 houses in Ca Mau. Estimated damage is about 1.598 million Standing office of the Steering Committee for CIP and TKCN of Tay Ninh province said that heavy rain on 06/12, in the communes of Loc Hung, An Tinh (Trang Bang district), Tra Vong (Tan Bien district) have caused 637.3 hectares of flooded agricultural area. Estimated initial damage value of 6.122 million (VND).
