Description
Between the evening of 16 October and the morning of 17 October, the VDDMa reported that 2 ships were sunk in the seas of Truong Sa archipelago areas due to tornadoes and big waves. 78 fishermen were rescued, 2 died, and 13 were reported missing. The tornadoes occurred during the passing of Tropical Depression 16 (previously Invest 99W) which developed into Tropical Cyclone SANBA in the afternoon of 18 October. The VDDMA reported the end of rescue operations for the 13 missing fishermen on 23 October.
