TC PENHA (BASYANG)
On 02 February 2026, 10:00 AM, a Low Pressure Area (LPA 02a) was monitored located East of
Northeastern Mindanao outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
On 03 February 2026, 2:00 PM, the LPA developed into Tropical Depression (TD) BASYANG.
On 04 February 2026, 4:00 AM, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 was raised over the southern
portion of Surigao del Sur. At 8:00 PM, BASYANG developed into a Tropical Storm (TS).
On 05 February 2026, 5:00 AM, highest TCWS hoisted was No. 2 over portions of regions X, XI, and
Caraga. Storm surge warning was raised over low-lying coastal areas in provinces across regions
MIMAROPA, VI, NIR, VII, VIII, X, XI, and Caraga. At 11:50 PM, TS BASYANG made a landfall over
Bayabas, Surigao del Sur.
On 06 February 2026, BASYANG has slightly weakened due to interaction with the landmass but will likely
remain a tropical storm. BASYANG is forecasted to traverse Bohol Sea and pass close or make another
landfall over the southern portions of Cebu and Negros Oriental. By this evening, it will emerge over Sulu
Sea then traverse the northern portion of Palawan between Saturday afternoon and evening.
Highest TCWS hoisted is Signal No. 2.
