Philippines, Drought in Cagayan (Region II)

According to preliminary reports from the provinces of Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An, from April 27-29, 2026, thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, and hail caused the following major damages:

- Regarding casualties: 01 person died due to house collapse (Vi Thanh Lam, born in 2013, residing in Nam Xuan commune, Thanh Hoa province);

- Regarding housing: 2 houses collapsed (1 in Phu Tho, 1 in Thanh Hoa); 491 houses had their roofs blown off or were damaged (55 in Dien Bien, 65 in Cao Bang, 30 in Thai Nguyen, 82 in Phu Tho, 107 in Thanh Hoa, 152 in Nghe An);

- Regarding agriculture: 3,404 hectares of rice, vegetables, and annual crops were damaged (Cao Bang 77 ha, Thai Nguyen 21 ha, Thanh Hoa 1,686 ha, Nghe An 1,620 ha).

Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities organized visits to comfort and encourage families affected by the disaster; they mobilized forces to support and assist people in cleaning up and repairing their homes.
