Description

Viet Nam Disaster Management Authority (VDMA) reported river bank erosion and landslide that caused houses in Can Tho City to be submerged. This incident occurred on 21 May 2018 and was the 3rd landslide to occur in the same place within one month. The bank erosion was measured around 50 m in length and 10 m deep, in the bank of O Mon River. Around 30 houses were submerged with 30 families displaced, as a result of the event. Can Tho city have provided assistance to the affected people. The city provided a financial support of VND10-20 million (US$440 - 880) to each household affected by the landslide. In the long run, Can Tho City and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will provide landslide prevention infrastructure in the area.
