Description

Singapore‘ National water agency reported flash flood in nine locations across eastern part of the country. The nine locations are: Tampines Road (opposite Jalan Teliti); Tampines Avenue 12 (opposite Tampines Eco Green); Arumugam Road; The junction of Sims Avenue and Eunos Road 8; The junction of Sims Avenue and Tanjong Katong Road; Jalan Nipah; The junction of Bedok Road and New Upper Changi Road; The junction of Upper Changi Road and Bedok North Avenue 4. There were no fatalities and displacement reported due to flash flood. Potentially, Widespread rain was due to the prevailing northeast monsoon, aggravated by the development of a Sumatra squall over the Straits of Malacca which moved eastwards. Water Agency PUB stated that floods in New Upper Changi Road and Upper Changi Roadl lead to Bedok Canal are subject to tidal influence. Response: 1) Firefighters from Changi Fire Station supported Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to reorganize traffic affected by flash flood. 2) PUB‘ MyWater app provides information of locations of flooded locations, water levels in canals and drains and television images 3) National Environment Agency (NEA) provides weather outlook and tide information.
