INVEST 96W, Philippines local name: Querubin
On 17 December 2024 at 2:00 PM, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was developed into
a Tropical Depression (TD) “Querubin” while moving north northeastward over the
waters east of Mindanao at 11:00 PM.
On 18 December 2024 at 10:00 AM, the center of TD “Querubin” was estimated based
on all available data at 195 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. At 2:00 PM, TD
“Querubin” had weakened into LPA.
On 19 December 2024 at 4:00 AM, the LPA (formerly TD “Querubin”) was estimated
based on all available data in East of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. Cloudy skies
with scattered rains and thunderstorms may have brought possible flash floods or
landslides due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains in the rest of Visayas
and Mindanao.
On the same day, continuous heavy rainfall was experienced in different parts of
Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental which caused flooding in several barangays due
to trough of LPA. Moreover, several barangays in Panabo City, Davao del Norte and
Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental also experienced flooding and landslide incidents due
to heavy rainfall caused by the trough of LPA
