GLIDE: TC-2012-000197-PHL The following information is summarized from Official Gazette of Philippines and the National Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Situation Report No.38 as of 25 December 2012 *STATUS* Typhoon Pablo has maintained its strength to enter the Philippines area on 3 December. As of 2 p.m., typhoon Pablo was located 70 km south of Tagbiliran City with maximum sustained winds of 160 kph and gustiness of 195 kph moving west at 20 kph. Pablo is forecasted to be at 140 km Southwest of Iloilo City on Wednesday morning, at 230 km West of Coron Palawan on Thursday morning, and at 500 km West of Iba Zambales on Friday morning. On 7 December 2012, its location was 540 km away of West of Ambulong, Batangas On 9 December, it has weakened into a Low Pressure Area. *CASUALTIES* 1067 death 2,666 injured 834 missing *AFFECTED POPULATION* A total of 711,682 families / 6,243,998 persons were affected in Regions IV-B, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII and CARAGA. *EVACUATION* A total of 3,011 families / 13,940 persons are being served in 87 Evacuation Centers. *DAMAGES AND STATUS OF LIFELINES* - Houses: 89,666 totally damaged and 127,151 partially damaged. - 9 bridges and 3 roads were damaged. COST OF DAMAGE: 899 million USD COST OF ASSISTANCE: 6.3 million USD *ACTION TAKEN* - Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signals were alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under public storm warning signals are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone. - Fishing boats and other small sea crafts were advised not to venture out into the Eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao. - The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned were advised to take appropriate action. - NDRRMC Operations Center is on RED ALERT status to monitor and disseminate Severe Weather Bulletins on Typhoon “Pablo” to all OCD Regional Centers through SMS and facsimile and uploaded on the NDRRMC website for further dissemination to their respective local disaster risk reduction and management councils (LDRRMCs) from the provincial down to the municipal levels. - NDRRMC directed Regional DRRMCs concerned through the OCD Regional Centers to undertake precautionary measures in their area of responsibility (AOR) and subsequently advised local DRRMCs to initiate pre-emptive evacuation of families in low-lying and mountainous areas if situation warrants. - NDRRMC conducted an Emergency Preparedness Meeting re Typhoon “PABLO” on December 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the NDRRMC Operations Center to discuss the preparedness measures of concerned agencies and regional offices. It was attended by representatives from PAGASA, DILG, DOH, DSWD, AFP, PNP, PIA, BFP, PCG, PRC and MMDA. - On 5 December 2012, AHA Centre and ASEAN ERAT, with the joint NDRRMC-HCT were deployed in Mindanao area to conduct Rapid Needs Assessment (RNA). - Government of Philippines has accepted the offers of assistance (SASOP Form 4) by the Government of Malaysia on 7 December 2012 and on 13 December (second mission) - Government of Philippines has accepted the SCDF team deployment to support the emergency planning and preparation on 3 December 2012. - Government of Philippines has accepted the humanitarian aid from the Government of Indonesia in amount of US$ 1 million.
