Description

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Bukidnon Province, Mindanao island, the Philippines on Monday, 18 November 2019 at 20:22 (UTC+7). The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the earthquake’s epicenter has a depth of 5 km, and was located on 7.66°N,124.89°E (8 km Northwest of Kadingilan, Bukidnon). According to PHIVOLCS, several municipalities namely Kadingilan, Kalilangan, Don Carlos, Kitaotao, and San Fernando, in Bukindon province, endured with intensity VI or strong shaking. While several other areas experienced weak to moderate shaking as reported below: Intensity V - Damulog, Talakag and Valencia City, Bukidnon; Midsayap, Cotabato; Kidapawan City; Marawi City. Intensity IV- Impasugong and Malaybalay, Bukidnon; Malungon, Sarangani; Antipas, Cotabato, Rosario, Agusan Del Sur; Cotabato City; Davao City; Koronadal City; Cagayan De Oro City. Intensity III - Malitbog, Bukidnon; Tupi, South Cotabato; Manticao, Misamis Oriental; Tubod and Bacolod, Lanao Del Norte; Alabel, Sarangani; Gingoog City; Pagadian City; Iligan City. Intensity II - Polomolok, Lake Sebu and Tampakan, South Cotabato; Kiamba, Sarangani; Mambajao, Camiguin; Sindangan and Polanco, Zamboanga Del Norte; Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur; Dipolog City; General Santos City. The Philippine’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has released an advisory on the earthquake information to several regions through facsimile, SMS, and website for further dissemination to their respective local DMO from the provincial down to the municipal levels. While PHIVOLCS advised the public to be cautious and prepare as damages and aftershocks are expected. The earthquake have caused panic in several municipalities, cities and villages as there were reports of shaking of houses and establishments According to the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC) The total population exposed from this event is estimated to reach up to 1.1 million people in 100-km radius, of which 64% adults.

Description

A tropical cyclone forecast has been issued by Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) on November 16, 2019, 03:00:00 GMT. Tropical Storm - Kalmaegi, is located in the NW Pacific Ocean with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h (40 mph), and wind gusts up to 83 km/h (52 mph). According to this forecast (#14), the cyclone is headed West at about 4 km/h (2 mph), and is expected to remain at this strength over the next 24 hours. It is cautioned, however, that the storm‘ actual position may shift significantly over the next few days. Based on the current forecast (the storm‘ center and path), Tropical Storm - Kalmaegi is within 382 km (237 miles) from Philippines, and the center is expected to make landfall within the next 108 hours, along the shores of/near Isabela, with sustained winds of about 102 km/h (63 mph). For the extended forecast, models do not show a concentrated population exposed to moderate or severe damaging winds (within the extended forecast area) at this time. All shorelines in the path of the storm are exposed to potential storm surge, and inland areas within the proximity of the storm are exposed to potential flooding. According to PAGASA, TC KALMAEGI (locally named "RAMON") remains almost stationary over the Philippines Sea, east of Northern Luzon. Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains may be experienced over the eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela, Bicol Region, Samar Provinces and Romblon. Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains may be experienced over the eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela. Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over Apayao, Northern Aurora and the rest of Isabela and Cagayan. Residents in the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to flooding and rain-induced landslides, are advised to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm or Rainfall Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions. Gusty conditions associated with the Northeast Monsoon may still be experienced today over Northern Luzon, Aurora, and Bicol Region, especially in coastal and mountainous areas. Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea crafts, over the seaboards of areas under TCWS, the seaboards of Northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions.

BMKG also updated reports of tsunami waves with a height of 0.6 meters each in Ternate (23.43 WIB), 0.9 meters in Jailolo (23.43) and 0.10 meters in Bitung (00.08 WIB). While there are no reports of infrastructure damage or casualties. The joint team of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) together with the TNI / Polri is working on a rapid assessment related to the earthquake. National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) received information from West Halmahera BPBD that there were no reports of damage or casualties. The National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecast of Viet Nam (NCHMF) reported that Tropical Storm MATMO formed and moved over the open waters of the South China Sea on Tuesday (29 October 2019) and moved west-northwest towards Viet Nam. Warm ocean water, weak wind shear and little to no interaction with land helped the low pressure area (LPA) system to strengthen into a tropical storm. On 30 October 2019 at 07:00 (UTC+7), its centre was approximately 275 km east-southeast of Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province, central Viet Nam) with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h (tropical storm). Through Thursday (31 October 2019) afternoon, TS MATMO weakened and became a LPA again. DAMAGE SITUATION About people: - 01 ng died (Mr. Pham Van Nam in Q. Ngai, mentally ill, fell down a stream washed away by floods); 01 person missing (Mr. Phan Thanh Dinh from N. Dinh, crew member of Thanh Cong 999 ship was hit by big waves in Ha Tinh sea); 14 people were injured (Q. Ngai). Description

AKARTA - The Mayor of Ambon set an emergency response period after the earthquake for 14 days, starting from September 26, 2019 to October 9, 2019. Ambon City was one of the areas affected by the M 6.5 earthquake that occurred on Thursday (26/5). During the emergency response period, the Ambon City Earthquake Disaster Response Command Post was tasked with coordinating all elements for emergency response in its administrative area. The earthquake with a depth of 10 km had shaken several districts such as Baguala, Ambon Bay, Sirimau, Nusaniwe and Ambon City. Data from the Maluku Province BPBD Pusdalops as of today (9/29) recorded 10 deaths and 31 injuries. Meanwhile, the total death toll from three districts in Maluku Province is 30 people. The highest casualties in Central Maluku Regency were 14 people, Ambon City 10 and West Seram (SBB) 6. While injured victims, the total number reached 156 people with details of Central Maluku 108, Ambon City 31 and SBB 17. After the earthquake also caused displacement of residents. They displaced a total of 244,780 people, with details of SBB 109,661 people, 108,000 Central Maluku and Ambon City 27,119.
