Expanding the scope of information on the impact of hydrometeorological disasters, the South Brebes area in Central Java Province also experienced a similar incident due to high rainfall intensity. Moderate to high intensity rain that poured down on the South Brebes area on Thursday (17/4), triggered landslides in Mendala Village, Sirampog District. The incident that occurred at around 02.00 WIB caused at least 367 people to evacuate. The landslide crown was identified in Dukuh Krajan RT 05 RW 03, with the direction of the sliding plane towards the northwest and an estimated slope angle of 60° towards the Pedes River flow. As a result of this incident, 93 houses were reported to be severely damaged (RB), and 14 other houses were threatened.
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Brebes Regency moved quickly to conduct an assessment at the scene with related parties. Emergency response measures were immediately implemented, including the establishment of two refugee tents in Dukuh Babakan to accommodate 314 evacuees. Meanwhile, 53 others chose to evacuate to relatives' homes.
In addition, evacuation efforts for disaster-affected residents are also a top priority. Coordination with PLN is also carried out to disconnect the electricity network in the affected area for safety. Currently, urgent needs for refugees include logistics, folding mattresses, additional refugee tents, blankets, mats, and special needs for babies and toddlers. Various elements are involved in handling this disaster, including the Brebes Regency BPBD, Sirampog District Government, Sirampog Police, Sirampog Health Center, Mendala Village Government, MDMC, BAGANA, and TAGANA
The Brebes Regency Government is currently in the process of determining the emergency response status in response to this incident. The latest condition on Friday, (18/4), the Brebes Regency BPBD set up a public kitchen and the establishment of refugee tents in Dukuh Babakan continues to be carried out, and for the safety of residents, a temporary disconnection of the electricity network in the affected area was carried out.
