DDPM reports flood situation in 7 southern provinces, orders mobilization of resources to help people as much as possible✊
(28 Nov 67) At 10.30 a.m., DDPM revealed that there is a flood situation in 7 provinces: Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Satun, totaling 50 districts, 321 sub-districts, 1,884 villages, affecting 136,219 households. Officials and disaster relief machinery are rushing to drain water from the area and providing assistance and relief to affected people.
Mr. Phasakorn Boonnalak, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), revealed that from the situation of a new moderate to fairly strong high pressure from China will spread down to cover the upper part of Thailand and the South China Sea, along with the northeast monsoon blowing over the Gulf of Thailand and the South, it will become stronger, causing the lower South to experience heavy to very heavy rain. Causing flash floods and forest runoff between 22-28 November 67 Currently, there is a flood situation in 7 provinces:
1) Surat Thani, flooding occurred in 2 districts: Kanchanadit District, Don Sak District, a total of 6 sub-districts, 17 villages, affecting 91 households.
2) Nakhon Si Thammarat Flooding occurred in 8 districts: Cha-uat, Chaloem Phra Kiat, Phra Phrom, Mueang, Ron Phibun, Chulabhorn, Pak Phanang, and Phrom Khiri, totaling 53 sub-districts, 320 villages, affecting 34,513 households. The water level has now receded.
3) Songkhla: Flooding occurred in 15 districts: Ranot, Sadao, Hat Yai, Singhanakhon, Thepha, Bang Klam, Saba Yoi, Nathawi, Chana, Rattanabhumi, Mueang, Na Mom, Krasae Sin, Khuan Niang, and Khlong Hoi Khong, totaling 99 sub-districts, 578 villages, affecting 23,181 households. The water level of Songkhla Lake has now risen.
4) Pattani: Flooding occurred in 6 districts: Mayo, Thung Yang Daeng, Nong Chik, Mae Lan, and Mai Kaen. and Khok Pho District, a total of 39 sub-districts, 183 villages, 8,442 households were affected. Currently, the Pattani River has a rising water level.
5) Yala: Flooding occurred in 5 districts: Bannang Sata, Mueang, Yaha, Raman, and Kabang, a total of 45 sub-districts, 265 villages, and 27,425 households were affected. Currently, the Sai Buri River has a rising water level.
6) Narathiwat: Flooding occurred in 13 districts: Ba Cho, Waeng, Rueso, Cho Airong, Sukhirin, Yi-ngo, Ra-ngae, Tak Bai, Chanae, Si Sakhon, Su-ngai Kolok, Su-ngai Padi, and Mueang, a total of 76 sub-districts, 511 villages, and 42,294 households were affected. Currently, the Sai Buri River has a rising water level.
7) Satun: Flooding occurred in Khuan Don District, a total of 3 sub-districts, 10 villages, 273 households affected. Currently, the water level of the Langu River has increased. 🚁The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has mobilized operational personnel and disaster machinery, such as water pumps, long-distance water pump trucks, disaster relief vehicles, drinking water production vehicles, flat-bottomed boats with engines, 1 KA 32 disaster prevention and mitigation helicopter, and The Guardian Team to provide assistance and relieve the suffering of people in flood-affected areas. In addition, the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has been instructed to coordinate with the province, local administrative organizations, and relevant agencies to urgently provide assistance to disaster victims, including arranging officers to survey and compile a damage inventory in order to provide assistance in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Finance and other related regulations. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation will closely monitor the situation and provide full assistance.
