Philippines, Floods and Landslides in Regions I, II, III, V, IX and CAR (Combined Effects of Enhanced Southwest Monsoon and TCs LUIS and KUJIRA)

NDRRMC Situation Report No. 2 as of 5 August 2026 at 0700H:
TC LUIS
On 01 August 2026, 5:00 PM, a Low Pressure Area (LPA 07f) is being monitored inside the Philippine Area of
Responsibility (PAR) and has a high chance to develop into a Tropical Depression (TD). At 8:00 PM, LPA 07f located east
of Infanta, Quezon has developed into a TD LUIS.
On 02 August 2026, 10:00 AM, TD LUIS maintained its strength while moving northwestward over the sea of Quezon
Province.
On 03 August 2026, 5:30 PM, TD LUIS made landfall over Maconacon, Isabela. At 8:00 PM, LUIS has weakened into a
LPA.
TC MAYMAY
On 04 August 2026, the LPA 180 km west of Bacnotan La Union developed into Tropical Depression MAYMAY.

The center of TD Luis was estimated based on all available data at 285 km East of Baler, Aurora (15.9 °N, 124.3 °E ) and is moving Northwestward at 15 km/h with Maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70km/h.

Issued on 30 July 2026 at 4:00 PM, cloudy skies with scattered rains and

thunderstorms may have brought flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains due to the trough of a Low Pressure Area (LPA 05d) in Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region.

On the same day, a trough of LPA brought continuous heavy rainfall which caused flash floods in Zamboanga City. In response, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of Zamboanga City immediately conducted rescue operations throughout the entire area.

In response, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Field Offices (FOs) V and IX, are in close coordination with the affected Local Government Units (LGUs), to monitor the situation and ensure the provision of necessary assistance to the affected population.

Meanwhile, the DSWD FOs V and IX have already provided relief assistance to address the immediate needs of the affected families and individuals.
