Indonesia, Flooding and Landslide in Bengkulu Province

JAKARTA - Until now (1/5) at 16.00 West Indonesia Time, 30 people were declared dead and 6 others were missing. The highest death toll was identified from Bengkulu Tengah Regency with a total of 24 people, while Bengkulu City was 3 people and Kepahiang 3. The joint SAR team coordinated by Basarnas focused on the search for missing victims in Talang Boseng Village, Susup and Kelindang. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bengkulu Province identified the missing victims as follows, Tumini (60 / p), Heri Hartanto (l), Halidin (45 / l), Kanelo (1.6 / l), Yananan and a child. This disaster also caused 2 people to be seriously injured and 2 others were slightly injured. Bengkulu Province BPBD is still making emergency response efforts such as health services and logistics distribution, such as Taba Penyengat Village, Susup and Kelindang. Provincial BPBD reported 200 people displaced in Air Napal Subdistrict and Bang Haji Subdistrict in Genting Village with 417 people. BPBD and related agencies continue to provide refugee services in the sub-district. Floods and landslides also cause damage in several sectors such as settlement, education, fisheries, livestock, agriculture, plantations and public infrastructure. Meanwhile, a total of 554 housing units were severely damaged (RB), 160 were moderately damaged (RS) and 511 were slightly damaged (RR). The following are details of post-flood and landslide damage, Bengkulu Tengah (28 RB, 16 RR, 125 submerged), Seluna (10 RB, 30 RR), Kaur (127 RB, 151 RS, 406 RR), Kepahiang (388 RB, 37 RR) and Rejang Lebong (1 RB, 9 RS, 22 RR). While education facilities in the entire Bengkulu region, 7 units were severely damaged and 1 was lightly damaged and 7 were submerged in mud. The most damage to educational facilities was in Bengkulu Tengah Regency, 4 RBs, 1 RR and 4 were submerged, while Kaur, 3 RBs and Bengkulu 3 City were submerged. In the livestock sector a number of livestock died such as cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, chickens and ducks with a total of 857 tails. The most affected areas for the livestock sector are in North Bengkulu with a total of 320 cattle. In addition, around 3,000 hectares of agricultural land were damaged. Details of land damage as follows: rice fields 2,648.06 ha, maize 221.59 ha, ground green beans 8.25 ha, and green beans 3.25 ha. While in the plantation sector, a total of 775 oil palm stems were affected. Meanwhile, in the infrastructure sector, the electricity network is still being repaired with the development of recovery reaching 74.28% on 30 April. The BPBD reported that 42 substations were still out of distribution and 2,496 of the customers electricity networks were not yet on. Total temporary losses to date (1/5) worth Rp 144 billion. However, the number will continue to increase because the estimated loss uses temporary data. Given the extent of the flood and the scale of the impact that has been generated, the amount of the loss will increase a lot. BPBD is still carrying out data collection on damage caused by floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains throughout the Bengkulu region on the afternoon of 4/26/2019 until 4/27/2019 in the morning. BNPB is still sending aid to Bengkulu such as tents, ready-to-eat food, and other logistics. At present most of the floods have receded and the area can be reached.
