Description

National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) reported that flash flood has occurred in South Solok Regency, West Sumatra Province on Thursday night at around 20.30 local time (14 September 2017). The 75 cm flash flood washed away residential and agricultural areas in Jorong (sub-district) of Bancah Anak Lolo, Batang Lolo Atas, Batu Kulambai and Batang Lolo. There were no casualties due to the flash flood, however it destroyed 138 houses and affecting the well-being of 571 people (160 families). However, South Solok disaster management agency (BPBD) estimated that the total damage and loss of houses and infrastructure may reach IDR 7.73 billion. Although the flash flood has finished, the emergency status and response period have been declared for the period of 15-22 September 2017. South Solok BPBD and West Sumatra BPBD are leading the response with the support of Indonesian Army, Indonesian Police, Basarnas, Indonesian Red cross and other volunteer groups.
