1. Damage caused by heavy rain

According to quick report No. 3771/BC-SNNMT dated June 10, 2026, from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lai Chau province, from the evening of June 8-9, heavy rains occurred in Pac Ta commune, causing landslides and resulting in the following damage:

Regarding casualties: 3 people died ( including: Ly Van Toan, born in 2000, residing in Mit Thai village, Pac Ta commune; Ha Van Duc, born in 1997, residing in Mit Thai village, Pac Ta commune; Vang A Thanh, born in 2001, residing in Mit Noi village, Pac Ta commune). Cause: The victims were in the forest in a mountain ravine in Mit Thai village, Pac Ta commune, when heavy rain caused a landslide on the mountaintop, burying them .

Immediately after the disaster occurred, local authorities and rescue forces promptly deployed measures to search for and bring the three victims home, and organized visits and provided assistance with funeral arrangements.

2. Damage caused by riverbank erosion.

According to a preliminary report from An Giang province, on June 9, 2026, a landslide occurred on the southern bank of the Rach Gia - Long Xuyen canal in Hamlet 16, Trung Binh Nhat village, Vinh Trach commune. The landslide, spanning over 60 meters, completely destroyed one house, causing it to collapse into the canal. Two other houses suffered cracks, and numerous cracks appeared on the asphalt road, extending lengthwise along the road.

Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities cordoned off the area and posted warning signs to prevent people and vehicles from passing through the landslide zone; they also mobilized forces to assist people in moving their belongings to safe places.

1. Damage caused by heavy rain and thunderstorms.



According to preliminary reports from Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces, heavy rain and thunderstorms from the evening of June 8th to 9th caused the following damage:



- Regarding housing: 15 houses were flooded (Lai Chau), but the water has now receded; 63 houses had their roofs blown off or were damaged (Lao Cai).



- Regarding agriculture: 8.6 hectares of rice (Lao Cai), 21.34 hectares of crops (20 hectares in Lai Chau, 1.34 hectares in Lao Cai) were damaged; 10 hectares of aquaculture (Lai Chau) were flooded and damaged.



- Regarding other damage: 5 power poles were broken and collapsed (Lao Cai); 12 irrigation works were damaged by landslides (3 in Lao Cai, 9 in Lai Chau); some sections of inter-village and inter-commune roads in Lao Cai and Lai Chau were damaged by landslides.



2. Damage caused by riverbank erosion.



According to a preliminary report from An Giang province, on June 9, 2026, a landslide occurred on the banks of the Nam Kenh 10 Chau Phu river in Hamlet 1, Vinh Phuc village, Chau Phu commune. The landslide extended over 60 meters in length, encroaching approximately 5-10 meters into the riverbank, damaging one iron bridge and affecting four houses.



Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities cordoned off the area and posted warning signs to prevent people and vehicles from passing through the landslide zone; they also mobilized forces to assist people in moving their belongings to safe places.
