According to a quick report of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control in the provinces of Lao Cai, Cao Bang, and Thai Nguyen, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds occurring from May 8-9, 2024 has caused damage. as follows:
- Regarding housing: 69 houses had their roofs blown off and damaged (Lao Cai 11, Cao Bang 04, Thai Nguyen 54).
- Regarding rice and crops: 14.2 hectares of damage (Lao Cai 8.65 hectares, Cao Bang 2.88 hectares, Thai Nguyen 2.7 hectares).
- Regarding forestry: 8.5 hectares of collapsed forest (Thai Nguyen).
- Regarding aquatic products: 1.9 hectares of damage (Lao Cai).
- Regarding traffic: 2,090m3 of landslides (Lao Cai 590, Cao Bang 1,500).
- Other damage: 57 trees and 04 electric poles were broken; Damaged 40m of irrigation canals, 04 schools, 242m of fences.
After the natural disaster occurred, the local government mobilized forces to help people repair their homes, clean up, and quickly stabilize their lives.
