Description

According to a preliminary report from Lao Cai province, the heavy rains that occurred from July 27-29 caused the following damage:

- Regarding homes: 38 houses were damaged; 42 houses required emergency evacuation.

- Regarding agriculture: 154.7 hectares of rice and other crops, and 1.5 hectares of other plants were flooded and damaged; 6 tons of sturgeon and 8,000 fish fry died or were swept away.

- Other damage: Several provincial roads and inter-village roads were damaged or affected by landslides, with a volume of approximately 43,383 m³ .

Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities mobilized forces and resources to assist in evacuating people to safe areas; cleared landslides that damaged roads to restore traffic flow; and continued to assess and compile damage statistics.
