Viet Nam, Storms, Floods, and Landslides in Dien Bien, Son La, and Lai Chau

According to reports from Dien Bien, Son La, and Lai Chau provinces, heavy rains from July 5-6 caused the following damage:

- Regarding casualties: 01 person died (Ms. Sung Thi Si, born in 1981, residing in Pu Dao village, Le Loi commune, died after being swept away by floodwaters while crossing a stream).

- Regarding homes: 28 houses were affected and damaged (Dien Bien: 8 houses; Lai Chau: 12 houses; Son La: 8 houses).

- Regarding agriculture: 288.48 hectares of rice (Dien Bien: 0.1 ha; Lai Chau: 217.6 ha; Son La: 70.78 ha) and 2.77 hectares of other crops (Lai Chau) were flooded and damaged.

- Regarding transportation: Several sections of National Highways 4D, 4H, and 12 (Lai Chau); National Highway 6 (Dien Bien); and some provincial roads, inter-village and inter-commune roads in Dien Bien, Son La, and Lai Chau provinces have been affected by landslides and damage. Local authorities have mobilized forces and equipment to clear the affected roads and restore traffic flow.

- Other damages: 17 tons of fish were swept away, damage occurred due to overflowing fish ponds, and some irrigation works and canals were damaged by landslides (Son La).
