1. Damage caused by heavy rain: According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Son La, Yen Bai and Hoa Binh provinces, heavy rain caused floods and landslides from August 4-6, causing the following damage:
- Regarding people: 05 people died (Ha Giang 02, Lai Chau 01, Son La 01, Hoa Binh 01); 04 people were injured (Ha Giang 02, Son La 01, Lao Cai 01).
- Regarding housing: 121 houses were damaged, flooded, and affected (Ha Giang 48, Lao Cai 37, Lai Chau 12, Yen Bai 24); 10 houses had to be urgently evacuated (Ha Giang).
- Regarding agriculture: 95 hectares of rice were flooded, affected and damaged (Ha Giang 51 hectares; Lao Cai 24 hectares; Yen Bai 20 hectares); 21 hectares of crops were flooded and damaged (Ha Giang 2 hectares; Lao Cai 19 hectares).
- Regarding livestock: 2,329 cattle and poultry died (Ha Giang 72, Yen Bai 2,257).
- Regarding irrigation: 01 irrigation project was damaged (Ha Giang), 02 canals were damaged (Ha Giang 01, Lao Cai 01).
- Regarding traffic: 170 traffic points were eroded and blocked with a total volume of 58,810m3 of earth, rock, and concrete (Ha Giang 150 points/55,261m3, Lao Cai 12 points/3,233m3, Yen Bai 8 points/316m3).
- Regarding other damages: 2 hectares of aquatic products and fish ponds were damaged (Ha Giang 1.7 hectares; Lao Cai 0.2 hectares; Yen Bai 0.1 hectares); 01 school had a cracked or collapsed yard and gate (Ha Giang); 40 electric poles were broken or fell (Ha Giang).
Immediately after the disaster, local authorities visited and encouraged families of victims; mobilized forces to support people to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.

2. Damage caused by flood discharge: According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control of Yen Bai province, the flood discharge process of Thac Ba hydropower reservoir caused the following damage in Yen Binh district:
- Home: 49 houses flooded; 30 wood peeling workshops affected.
- Regarding agriculture: 47 hectares of rice and crops were flooded.
- Regarding livestock: 400 poultry died.
- Regarding aquaculture: 05 fish ponds were damaged.
- Total damage estimated at about 470 million VND.
The locality has mobilized forces to support people in moving people and property of affected households to safety.
