According to a quick report of the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control in the provinces of Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Son La, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, thunderstorms with tornadoes, lightning, Hail occurred from March 28 to the morning of March 29, 2024 and caused the following damage:
- Regarding people: 02 people were injured (Phu Tho 01, Lao Cai 01).
- Regarding housing: 54 houses were damaged, roofs removed > 70% (Yen Bai 17, Nghe An 29, Quang Tri 08) and 2,166 houses were damaged, roofs lost < 70% (Ha Giang 1,301, Lao Cai 48, Son La 11, Yen Bai 161, Phu Tho 413, Nghe An 158, Ha Tinh 26, Quang Tri 39, TT Hue 09).
- Regarding agriculture: 2,411 hectares of rice, crops and plants were damaged (Ha Giang 274, Son La 1,220, Yen Bai 11, Phu Tho 232, Nghe An 250, Ha Tinh 53, Quang Tri 12, TT Hue 360) .
- Regarding forestry: 253 hectares of fallen and broken trees (Yen Bai 09, Phu Tho 153, Nghe An 90).
- Regarding livestock: 12 cattle (Son La 06, Yen Bai 01, Nghe An 05) and 96 poultry (Nghe An) died; 85 barns were damaged (Ha Giang 69, Nghe An 04, Ha Tinh 07, Quang Tri 05).
- Regarding aquatic products: 0.12 hectares of fish ponds were damaged (Son La).
- Cultural houses, factories, and schools had their roofs blown off: 29 houses (Lao Cai 01, Yen Bai 06, Phu Tho 16, Nghe An 05, Ha Tinh 01).
- Falling electric poles: 46 poles (Lao Cai 01, Yen Bai 03; Phu Tho 11, Nghe An 31).
- Fallen fence: 194m (Phu Tho 129, Nghe An 65).
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities directed inspection, statistics, damage assessment and mobilized on-site forces to urgently repair the damage and support people to soon stabilize their lives.
