According to the report of the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control in the provinces of Son La, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, damage caused by thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and hail occurred from the night of April 23 to April 24. , as follows:
- Regarding people: 01 person was injured (Thanh Hoa).
- Regarding housing: 04 houses had their roofs blown off and were completely damaged (Phu Tho: 03, Thanh Hoa: 01); 242 houses had their roofs blown off and were partially damaged (Son La: 30; Hoa Binh: 9; Phu Tho: 8; Thanh Hoa: 41; Nghe An: 154).
- Regarding education: 19 schools and school buildings had their roofs blown off and damaged (Phu Tho: 17; Nghe An: 02).
- Regarding agriculture: 1,570 hectares of rice, crops and fruit trees were affected and damaged (Son La: 594 hectares, Hoa Binh 210 hectares; Phu Tho: 63 hectares, Thanh Hoa: 703 hectares).
- Regarding forestry: 47 hectares were damaged (Thanh Hoa).
- Other damage: 67 electric poles were broken (Phu Tho 14; Thanh Hoa: 53); 17 civilian boats were damaged, 01 medical station and 02 agency headquarters were affected.
After the natural disaster occurred, local authorities organized visits and encouragement for the families of victims; Organize a review and inventory of damages and mobilize forces to help people overcome the consequences and soon stabilize their lives.
RESPONSE
On April 23, 2024, the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control sent dispatch No. 144/VPTT to the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control of provinces and cities in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An. about responding to thunderstorms with tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds.
On April 24, 2024, the Ministry of Public Security issued Official Telegram No. 01/CD-V01 to affiliated units requesting to proactively respond to thunderstorms with tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds.
The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control is on duty and closely monitors weather and natural disaster developments; transmit natural disaster warning bulletins to localities.
