Description
According to preliminary reports from the provinces of Tuyen Quang, Son La, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, and Ca Mau, the heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning on May 29-30, 2026 caused the following damage:
- Regarding casualties: 2 people died due to lightning strikes (1 in Son La; 1 in Dak Lak).
- Regarding housing: 5 houses collapsed (Dak Lak: 2 houses; Ca Mau: 3 houses); 56 houses had their roofs blown off or were damaged (Tuyen Quang: 2 houses; Son La: 15 houses; Dak Lak: 18 houses; Lam Dong: 1 house; Ca Mau: 20 houses).
- Agriculture: 2.7 hectares of rice fields flattened (Son La).
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities mobilized forces and resources to assist people in overcoming the damage and stabilizing their lives.
