An Giang: Thunderstorms in Cho Moi and Long Xuyen caused 32 houses to lose their roofs
The authorities of Cho Moi district and Long Xuyen city have mobilized forces together with local people to support households experiencing natural disasters to repair and overcome problems to soon stabilize their lives.
On the afternoon of September 1, Mr. Luong Huy Khanh, Chief of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Climate Change Response, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Civil Defense of An Giang Province, said thunderstorms occurred in Cho Moi district. and Long Xuyen city on the afternoon of August 30 caused 32 houses to be roofed off, causing damage of nearly 500 million VND.
Before that, around 16:15, on the afternoon of August 30 in My Xuyen ward, My Phuoc ward, Long Xuyen city, there was a thunderstorm, causing 4 houses of people to lose their roofs, including 1 house. completely roof and 3 houses with roof loss less than 30%.
Around 5 pm on August 30, in 5 communes Kien Thanh, Long Giang, Long Dien B, Nhon My, Kien An, Cho Moi district, An Giang province, there was a thunderstorm accompanied by strong winds, causing 28 houses of the people to live in the area. People collapsed, the roof was completely blown off and the roof was blown off by 30-50%.
Mr. Luong Huy Khanh said reports from localities showed that thunderstorms did not cause damage to people. Currently, according to statistics, the damage caused by storms is about 475 million VND.
"After a tornado occurred, the leaders of Cho Moi district visited and encouraged the affected families. In the immediate future, the Cho Moi District Party Committee will support 2 million VND/household for 10 households in two communes of Kien An and Kien Thanh. Severe damage caused by natural disasters to overcome difficulties and stabilize life, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cho Moi district also supported 3 million VND/household for 10 households that were severely damaged by storms in 2 areas. Kien An commune, Kien Thanh," added Mr. Khanh.
On August 31 and September 1, Cho Moi district and Long Xuyen city mobilized police forces, military forces, departments, mass organizations of communes and hamlets together with local people to support households facing difficulties. Disaster repair and troubleshooting to stabilize life.
Currently, two localities have also established damage assessment teams to soon support people according to regulations.
The Steering Committee for Climate Change Response, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Civil Defense of An Giang province also proposed the An Giang Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate with the districts to carry out procedures to support for households whose houses are damaged by the effects of thunderstorms according to current regulations.
