Description
Drought has been affecting central region of Viet Nam. The water crisis has been reported from several districts in Dak Lak, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan Provinces. In the last two provinces, rain has been felt over the last five months. IMPACT Dak Lak Province: Krong Bong, Hoa Thanh, Ea Trul and Chu Pui district - at least 1,000 families and 2,008 ha agriculture and plantation have been affected Ninh Thuan Province: Thuan Bac and Thuan Nam district - about 1,550 families have been affected Binh Thuan Province: Ham Can district - at least 700 families have been affected RESPONSE - The local government and agencies are in effort to cope the situation by providing water for the people, budget for irrigation canals, as well as giving instruction to manage the water reservoir and storage efficiently.
