In Chiang Rai province, on July 13, 2026, at 8:00 AM, heavy rainfall occurred with a 24-hour cumulative rainfall measurement of 184.2 mm in Wiang Chiang Rung district, 181 mm in Phaya Mengrai district, and 121.6 mm in Mueang district. This caused flash floods in 5 districts, 6 subdistricts, and 21 villages, including 1 municipal area and 2 communities: Mae Yao Subdistrict, Chiang Rai Municipality, Mueang district, and Mae Pao Subdistrict. Mae Tam Subdistrict, Phaya Mengrai District; Thung Ko Subdistrict, Wiang Chiang Rung District; Mae Yen Subdistrict, Phan District; Pa Daed Subdistrict, Mae Suai District. Initially, 860 households were affected.
There is also standing water on the road surface, and further damage assessment is underway. There were no injuries or fatalities.
The Chiang Rai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, district officials, police officers, local administrative organizations, volunteers, disaster relief volunteers, foundations, and related agencies
surveyed the damage, provided assistance in moving belongings to higher ground, facilitated traffic, and expedited water drainage from the area.
The situation has now eased.
