Thailand, Flooding and Storms in Thoen and Sop Prap (Lampang)

ampang Province: On 12 May 2026 at 01:40 hrs, heavy rainfall caused flash floods that inundated residential areas in Ban Mae Pa Luang and Mae Pa Doi, Mae Pa Sub-district, Thoen District. Preliminary reports indicate that 80 households were affected. No injuries or fatalities were reported.



The Lampang Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, emergency medical service units, district authorities, local administrative organisations, volunteers, civil defence volunteers, foundations, and relevant agencies have provided initial assistance, including cleaning operations for affected households using water pumps and spraying equipment.

Lampang Province: On 11 May 2026 at 18:15 hrs, a lightning strike hit a hut located in a cassava field in Mae Kuah Sub-district, Sop Prap District. As a result, 2 fatalities were reported (1 female and 1 male), while no injuries were recorded.
