Based on the Summary Report August 2012 of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation - Ministry of Interior, several provinces in Thailand have declared emergency situation due to drought. The respected provinces are as follows: 1. Surin Province declared drought in 12 districts from August 16, 2012. The affected area and population cover 1,377 villages, 957,982 acres of farmland and 113,680 households. 2. Buri Ram Province declared drought in 6 districts from August 16, 2012. The affected area covers 714 villages. 3. Nakhon Si Thammarat Province declared in 13 districts drought from August 14, 2012. The affected area and population cover 827 villages, 181,200 acre of farmland and 107,375 households. 4. Phatthalung Province declared drought in 11 districts from August 14, 2012. The affected area and population cover 655 villages, 310,192 acre of farmland and 65,050 households. 5. Phangnga Province declared drought from August 15, 2012. The affected area and population cover 8 villages and 112 households. 6. Surat Thani Province declared drought in 7 districts from August 14, 2012. The affected area covers 242 villages, 128,278 acre of farmland and 30,425 households
