Description

Issued on 13 June 2026 at 4PM, cloudy skies with scattered rains and
thunderstorms due to Easterlies may have caused flash floods or landslides due to
moderate to at times heavy rains in Mindanao.
On the same day, the prevailing easterlies brought strong winds, large waves, and
heavy rains across the Zamboanga Peninsula, initiating community evacuations and
localized landslides. Residents from several coastal barangays in Pagadian City
were evacuated due to the threat of aggressive coastal winds and heavy wave
action. A rain-induced landslide also occurred in Brgy. Don Eleno, Sergio Osmeña,
Zamboanga del Norte, following continuous heavy rainfall generated by the same
easterlies system.
In response, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through
its Field Office (FO) IX, together with the affected Local Government Units (LGUs),
provided relief assistance to address the immediate needs of the affected families
and individuals.
