Description

On 20 January 2026 at around 3:00 AM, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake with epicenter

located at 06.39°N, 123.69°E - 043 km S 65° W of Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat was

felt at various intensities in the region. This was followed by a series of weak to

moderate earthquakes with recorded magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 5.2. As a

precautionary measure, preemptive evacuation was implemented in the coastal

municipalities of Lebak and Kalamansig in Sultan Kudarat. The Provincial

Government of Sultan Kudarat also ordered the suspension of classes at all levels.

Likewise, work in the government offices in Kalamansig, Lebak and Palimbang was

also suspended until further notice.

In response, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through

its Field Office in Region XII in coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of

Sultan Kudarat, provided relief assistance aimed at addressing the immediate needs

of the affected family and individuals.
