Description

Issued on 08 October 2026 at 4:00 PM, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may have caused possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains caused by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) in Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan. On the same day at around 11:20 PM, continuous heavy rainfall caused flooding in the Municipality of Braulio E. Dujali, Davao del Norte. On 09 October 2026, at around 1:00 AM, a residential structure sustained significant damage after being struck by a fallen tree. Subsequently, at around 4:00 AM, a landslide occurred at Sitio Kandarong Riverside, Brgy. Pulangbato, Cebu City, burying four (4) members of a family. Emergency responders rescued a 38-year-old woman, who was subsequently transported to North General Hospital for medical attention, while two (2) of her children were reported dead. Meanwhile, search-and-rescue and retrieval operations for a 60-year-old senior citizen were temporarily suspended due to hazardous slope conditions and the risk of further landslides. Threatening further collapses, the incident prompted the evacuation of 29 nearby families to the Pulangbato Gymnasium. The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO), concerned barangay officials, and other responding agencies are currently inspecting the slope and managing relief efforts. Authorities remain on high alert, emphasizing close inter-agency coordination to ensure resident safety, assess immediate aid requirements, and safely resume search efforts when soil conditions stabilize. On 09 October 2026, flooding incidents were also experienced in low-lying areas of the Municipalities of Asuncion and Carmen in Davao del Norte. On 09 October 2026 at 11PM, continuous heavy rainfall was experienced, causing flooding in Brgys. Sinayawan and Tongantongan in the City of Valencia. On 10 October 2026 at 4:30 PM, heavy rainfall caused by the ITCZ triggered flash floods in some low-lying barangays in Arakan, Cotabato Province. In response, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Field Offices (FOs) VII, X, XI and XII, in close coordination with the affected Local Government Units (LGUs), immediately provided relief assistance to address the immediate needs of the affected population.

The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) is a repository of information concerning hazards and disasters that have happened in the region. The platform is open for public, which means that the public can submit information about any hazard and disaster to the AHA Centre. Thereafter, the AHA Centre will verify and validate any submitted information to ensure the accuracy of the data inputs. The AHA Centre can also add new information when relevant and as necessary. ADINet has been recording disaster information in the region since the AHA Centre was operational in 2012.
