Description

On 21 June 2023, three (3) municipalities of Zamboanga del Sur experienced flooding incidents due to continuous heavy rainfall caused by the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao. One (1) barangay experienced rain-induced landslide and five (5) barangays experienced flooding along rice fields in the Municipality of Labangan. The Municipalities of Tambulig and Tukuran experienced flooding incident in the residential areas.

As of 22 June 2023, 6:00 AM a flooding incident happened in the Municipality of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

24HR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST ISSUED AT 4:00 PM, 21 JUNE 2023:

SYNOPSIS: Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan and Mindanao.
Forecast Weather Condition:
- BARMM, Zamboanga Peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by ITCZ. Possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains.
- Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by ITCZ / Localized Thunderstorms. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Condition:
- Light to moderate winds from Southwest to Southeast will prevail over the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas. Coastal waters will be slight to moderate / (0.6 to 2.1 meters).
- Light to moderate winds from Southeast to Southwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon. Coastal waters will be slight to moderate / (0.6 to 2.1 meters).
- Light to moderate winds from Southwest to West will prevail over Mindanao. Coastal waters will be slight to moderate / (0.6 to 2.1 meters).

RELATED INCIDENTS:
- 8 flooded areas (3 flooded and 5 subsided) and 1 landslide (rain-induced) incidents were reported

AFFECTED POPULATION:
- 140 families/ 698 persons were affected and displaced

ROADS AND BRIDGES:
- 2 road sections reported not passable are now passable to all types of vehicles

PRE-EMPTIVE EVACUATION:
- 55 families/ 191 persons were pre-emptively evacuated
