Description
Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported Earthquake with Magnitude of 7.6, depth 45 km, 31 August 2012 at 12:47:35 GMT. The coordinate of the epicentrum was 10.83 N, 126.71 E. National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) of Philippines issued promptly: - TSUNAMI ALERT LEVEL 3. - People in potentially affected area were STRONGLY ADVISED TO EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. - Potential area affected : Nothern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southerd Leyte, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur. At 12:55 GMT, Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre issued : - Expanding Regional Tsunami Warning. - Potential Country affected : Indonesia, Philippines and other neighboring countries. At 14:10 GMT, PHIVOLCS lifted the TSUNAMI ALERT. At 14:54 GMT, Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre issued TSUNAMI WARNING CANCELLATION. Based on the NDRRMC SitRep No.7, issued on 5 September 2012 : - reported casualty was 1 dead and 10 injured. - physical losses were 82 totally damaged houses,157 partially damaged houses, 19 damaged bridges and damaged public facility such as church, hall, basketball court, etc. - affected population was 5,839 families/28,869 persons in 9 Barangays - Cost of damage was estimated to be 3,18 million USD - NDRRMC applied "BLUE ALERT" status to the current situation
