Triggered by the monsoon rains, floods affected several provinces in Myanmar. According to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Department, as of 23 July, a total of 33,233 families or 134,591 people have affected and evacuated due to the flood in Magway, Sagaing, Bago, Irrawaddy and Nay Pyi Taw Regions and Rakhine, Mon and Karen States. Two people were also reportedly to have died because of the incident. Magway Region suffered the most with 90,417 displaced people, followed by Sagaing Division with 23,595 displaced people. At this stage, the government has persistently provided assistance to the victims by evacuating the affected people and mobilising resources to help the victims. The In-country Humanitarian Organisation has been also supporting the government in the relief effort.
