The torrential rain also felled trees along ascending and descending roads from Taunggyi Township and traffic jams. In Nyaungphyu Sakhan ward, houses were completely swamped. “It is the second time floods have occurred. We heard that walls have collapsed due to the flooding. The vehicles were submerged and stranded on the road. Water flowed into the houses. The water level is over 4-ft at low-lying wards,” said Veteran Journalist Than Wai from Nyaungphyu Sakhan ward. Likewise, Ayethayar Ward-1 was also flooded. Myanmar Police Force cleared away the fallen trees and debris together with the Traffic Police Force Fire brigade members, Red Cross association and officials from Electric Power Corporation. Due to torrential rain, traffic slowed down, leading to prolonged traffic jams along ascend/descent roads off Taunggyi. Every lower wards were flooded to varying degrees and brick walls of some houses was brought to collapse by the waters.
