Description

A shallow (33km depth) earthquake with magnitude of 5.1 shook Taik Kyi, about 40 km north of Yangon at 08:49 pm (UTC +6.5). Based on the Relief and Resettlement Department of Myanmar (RRD), the earthquake has injured 26 people. It has also damaged at least 40 building which included religious building, government and privates offices, as well as bridges. The government, through the Union Minister for the Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement (MSWRR) and the Permanent Secretary of MSWRR responded promptly by visiting the affected site and providing cash assistance, amounting nearly 6,000 USD. The cash assistance is addressed to help the earthquake victims and to support the recovery efforts. The cost of damages is estimated to be 144,000 USD.
