Tidal Flooding and Coastal Abrasion in North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province
➢ Chronology:
Triggered by extreme weather conditions, coastal abrasion and tidal flooding (king tide) have occurred since Friday, 15 May 2026, at 10:00 WIB and continued until Monday, 18 May 2026. as of 21 May Tidal floodwaters are still inundating several houses in Lapang District, Seunuddon District, Samudera District, Dewantara District, and Muara Batu District.
High sea waves have caused coastal abrasion affecting shorelines, roads, and rice field areas. No casualties were reported in this incident. As the communities are frequently affected by high waves almost every year, residents remain vigilant.
