Earthquake in Probolinggo Regency, East Java Province
➢ Update: Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM WIB
➢ Chronology: Triggered by several earthquakes felt on July 18, 2025, in Lumajang Regency and Probolinggo Regency.
● According to information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), a 1.9 magnitude earthquake occurred at 4:55 AM WIB, followed by three other earthquakes felt in close proximity:
at 7:19:06 PM WIB, 8:03:46 PM WIB, and 8:47:33 PM WIB, 19 km southwest of Probolinggo. The earthquake epicenters were located at coordinates 8.02°S - 113.36°E with a magnitude of 3.3 and a depth of 7 km, 7.86°S - 113.01°E with a magnitude of 2.6 and a depth of 3 km, and 8.01°S - 113.37°E with a magnitude of 2.4 and a depth of 7 km.
● As of Saturday, July 19, 2025, 64 earthquakes had occurred in the Probolinggo and Lumajang Regencies, with magnitudes ranging from 1.9 to 3.3. These earthquakes caused damage to houses in several villages and were felt at a magnitude of up to II on the MMI scale.

➢ Efforts:
● The Probolinggo Regency BPBD Operations Center coordinates with local residents and volunteers.
● The Probolinggo Regency BPBD Probolinggo monitors the post-earthquake situation.
● Personnel from the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Regional Disaster Management Center (TRC) of the Probolinggo Regency BPBD conducted an assessment and coordinated with the Tiris District Military Command (Muspika), the Tiris District Police, and the affected village governments.
● The Probolinggo Regency BPBD provided assistance to residents affected by the earthquake, including:

2. Tarpaulins
3. Ready-to-Eat Meals
4. Biscuits
5. Clothing Packages
6. Hygiene Kids

● In the process of being assessed by the Probolinggo Regency BPBD
● Repeated aftershocks have caused panic among residents. Currently, 15 families have chosen to spend the night outside their homes due to concerns about the potential for aftershocks.
