On Thursday, February 28, 2019, at 06.27.05 WIB, the South Solok Regency was rocked by a tectonic earthquake. The results of the BMKG analysis showed that the earthquake had a power of Mw = 5.3. The epicenter of the earthquake is located at 1.4 LS and 101.53 BT coordinates, or precisely located on land at a distance of 36 km northeast of Padang Aro City, South Solok Regency, West Sumatra Province at a depth of 10 km. This earthquake in South Solok Regency, taking into account the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, is a type of shallow crustal earthquake that occurs due to the activities of the Sumatra Fault Zone in the Difficult segment. The results of the analysis of the source mechanism indicate that this earthquake was generated by rock deformation with the mechanism of strike-slip movement . According to information felt by the community, the impact of the earthquake was felt in the area of Solok Selatan IV MMI, Padang III-IV MMI, Painan and Padang Panjang II-III MMI, Payakumbuh 50 City II MMI, Kepmiyang I MMI. Until now there have been no reports of the damage caused by the earthquake. Up at 6:45 pm, BMKG monitoring results have not showed activity aftershock earthquake ( aftershock ). The community is encouraged to remain calm and not be affected by issues that cannot be justified. After the earthquake that rocked the Solok Selatan region, 48 people were injured and 343 houses were damaged. Until now, the local government, TNI, National Police and local work partners have continued to make emergency response efforts. An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 occurred on Thursday morning (28/2) at 06:27 local time. The West Sumatra Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) informed that in addition to injuries and damage to housing units, the earthquake also caused damage to school facilities, worship and health. The impact of the earthquake included 3 sub-districts, namely the Sangir Balal Janggo District (Nagari Sungai Turang, Kunyit Barat River, Talunan Maju), Sangir Batang hari District (Nagari Ranah Pantai Cermin), and Sangir Jujuan District (Nagari Lubuk Malako). The following is the distribution of victims and damage after the earthquake: 1. Nagari Sungai Kunyit: 22 injured people, 168 damaged housing units (21 RB, 42 hospitals, 105 RR), 1 health facility unit 2. Nagari Sungai Kunyit Barat: 101 damaged house camels (1 RB, 50 RS, 50 RR) 3. Nagari Talunan Maju: 23 injured people, 30 damaged housing units (7 RB, 23 hospitals), 1 unit of worship facilities, 1 health facility. 4. Nagari Ranah Pantai Cermin: 2 injured people, 30 RR housing units 5. Nagari Lubuk Malako: 1 injured person, 14 damaged housing units (3 hospitals, 11 RR), 1 educational facility
