Description

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), Indonesia, on Tuesday, 10 October 2017, 06.23 local time. Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) reported that the earthquake epicenter was 23 km northwest of Lembata Regency in NTT, at the depth of 10 km below ground surface. The aftershocks continued until Wednesday, 11 October 2017. Local Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lembata regency, reported that due to the earthquake 2,172 people have been affected from 8 villages of Napasabok, Lamagute, Waimatan, Jontona, Lamawolo, Lamatokan, Bungamuda, Lamawara and Aulesa. The earthquake damaged over 100 houses, and around 40 other buildings. After one week from the earthquake, villagers from Lamagute and Waimatan villages still could not return due to potential landslide induced by aftershocks. The earthquake also caused landslide in some part of the provinces with large stone fall into major road and interfere transportation
