Description
Over 800 people were displaced by flooding in the province of Cebu in the region of Central Visayas, Philippines after heavy rain on 04 October 2020.
Rivers broke their banks, flooding parts of Cebu City, where 329 people from 78 families were evacuated from their homes by disaster authorities.
Over 400 people were evacuated in Bacayan, and just over 100 in the barangay of Pit-os in the north-western part of Cebu City. At least 9 homes were completely destroyed.
Flooding also struck in Mandaue City after the Butuanon river overflowed, affecting at least 400 households.
Media reported that flood waters in Cebu and Mandaue Cities had started to subside by late Sunday but many affected families were still temporarily housed in schools.
