Philippines, Earthquake in North Cotabato

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that a strong and shallow earthquake, with M 6.3 and a depth of focus of less than 10 km, struck North Cotabato Province, Mindanao island in the Philippines on Wednesday, 16 October 2019, at 18:37 (UTC+7). The earthquake was located on 6.76°N,125.04°E (23 km Southwest of Makilala, North Cotabato).

As of 18 October 2019, 00:00 (UTC+7), a total of 497 aftershocks were recorded by PHIVOLCS, with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 5.5 and intensities of I to VII.

DSWD reported that as of 17 October 2019, 17:00 (UTC+7), 102 families or 513 persons are staying with their relatives and/or friend.

The disaster is still within local capacities.
