Description
A moderate M 5.2 earthquake struck Ranau, Sabah, Malaysia on 9 March 2018, 21.06 (UTC+8). Most of municipalities in northern part of Sabah felt intensity IV (MetMalaysia).
There were no major damages and casualties reported. However, the earthquake did disrupt climbing activities and triggered search and rescue operations for climbers in Mount Kinabalu. Around 239 climbers and workers who were on Mount Kinabalu were safely rescued by Sabah Civil Defense Force (APM).
