Description

1. Landslide incident at Ta Pao Ho 1A hydropower project, Si Lo Lau commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province

According to the express report No. 09/BC-BCH dated May 17, 2025 of the Lai Chau Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control, the landslide incident at the construction site of the Ta Pao Ho 1A hydropower project, Si Lo Lau commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province on May 16, 2025 killed 05 people (found missing) and injured 04 people. Currently, the authorities have completed the procedures to bring the victims' bodies back to their hometowns for burial and organized visits, encouragement, and initial support for the families of the victims.

2. Earthquake damage in Dien Bien

According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Dien Bien province, the earthquake on May 16, 2025 in Muong Cha district caused cracks in the walls of 08 houses, 04 schools, 01 medical station, and 03 offices. The estimated damage is about 1,850 million VND.

3. Damage caused by heavy rain, storms, landslides

According to a quick report from the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control of Cao Bang and Yen Bai provinces, heavy rain and thunderstorms on May 16, 2025 caused the following damage:

- Home: 17 houses affected (Cao Bang).

- Regarding agriculture: 27.64 hectares of crops and forestry trees were damaged (Yen Bai 5.18 hectares; Cao Bang 22.46 hectares).

- Regarding traffic: Landslide at 01 positive slope point on National Highway 3 and some points of rural traffic routes in (Cao Bang).

After the disaster, local authorities mobilized forces and machinery to support people in overcoming the consequences; organized ropes, placed warning signs, and ensured traffic at landslide sites.
