Description
According to preliminary reports from Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, and Thai Nguyen provinces, heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and flooding from the night of June 25th to the morning of June 26th, 2026, caused the following damage:
- Regarding casualties: 1 person died due to lightning strike (Ms. Lan Thi San, born in 1971, residing in Yen Thanh commune, Tuyen Quang); 1 person was injured due to lightning strike (Ho Thau commune, Tuyen Quang);
- Regarding housing: 42 houses were damaged or had their roofs blown off (16 in Cao Bang; 16 in Tuyen Quang; 10 in Thai Nguyen) and 79 houses were flooded (Cao Bang, water is currently receding);
- Regarding agriculture: 229.5 hectares of rice and other crops were damaged or flooded (Cao Bang 187.6 hectares; Tuyen Quang 29.2 hectares; Thai Nguyen 12.7 hectares); 7 livestock animals died or were swept away (Cao Bang 2, Tuyen Quang 5);
- Regarding transportation: Three landslides on National Highway 34 (Cao Bang province) caused traffic congestion; local authorities mobilized forces and equipment to clear the roads. Many local roads were also affected by landslides with a total volume of over 22,000 m³ of soil and rocks
