Description
According to the Report of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control of Lao Cai, Hoa Binh and Kien Giang provinces, heavy rain and thunderstorms on July 14-17, 2024 caused the following damage:
- Regarding people: 01 person died in Hoa Binh due to lightning on July 13 and 01 person died due to drowning accident on July 16 (fell into stream and was then swept away by flood).
- Regarding housing: 45 houses were damaged (Lao Cai 01 house, Hoa Binh 10 houses, Kien Giang 34 houses).
- Regarding agriculture: 82.5 hectares of rice and other crops were damaged; 79 livestock and poultry died in Hoa Binh.
- Regarding traffic: Landslides occurred at 7 points on National Highway 4, 11 points on provincial roads 152 and 159 in Lao Cai province; 10 points on provincial roads 433 and 435 in Hoa Binh province and many points on rural roads causing congestion. By 5:00 p.m. on July 17, traffic was reopened.
Immediately after the disaster, local authorities mobilized functional forces to overcome traffic landslides; set up barriers and warning signs in landslide areas and areas at high risk of landslides.
