Description
According to reports from the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien provinces, the rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds that occurred on March 21-22 caused the following damage:
- Regarding casualties: 2 people injured (Lao Cai).
- Regarding housing: 1 house collapsed (Lao Cai); 824 houses had their roofs blown off or were damaged (783 houses in Lao Cai, 29 houses in Lai Chau, and 12 houses in Dien Bien).
- Regarding agriculture: 173.7 hectares of crops and fruit trees were damaged (173.2 hectares in Lao Cai and 0.5 hectares in Lai Chau).
- Regarding other damage: 01 power pole was broken and collapsed; 01 school, 01 cultural center and several auxiliary buildings had their roofs blown off and were damaged (Lao Cai).
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities mobilized forces to assist people in overcoming the consequences and quickly stabilizing their lives.
